Kevin Lee is a senior from Los Angeles pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics at Cal Lutheran. Through the Swenson Science Summer Research Fellowship, his first-ever opportunity to participate in a research project, Kevin aspired to gain an understanding of how a 3D object can be modeled using a consumer-based camera and a sonar sensor.
His process consisted of gathering data from the 3D object, then developing models using both a camera and a sonar sensor. Then, he processed the collected data to reconstruct the object with a goal of creating an easy-to-use system that can build relatively accurate 3D models of objects.
Kevin plans to apply his research experience to furthering his education. "After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school to earn a PhD. in computer science and pursue a career in computer science research."
